New Faces & the Feeling of Fall
There’s been a lot happening around Mine Creek these past couple of weeks.
Just under two weeks ago, we added three new girls to the farm from a Jersey breeder a couple hours north of us: Schmooze and Ransom, two fresh cows who have already joined the milking herd, and Rogue, a bred heifer who is expecting her first calf next spring.
We shared a little introduction to all three in a reel last week, so watch the reel here to meet the newest members of the herd.
And then Casey finally decided she was ready to join the calving party—eight days late and with twins! Charlie Ray, a bull calf, and Carly Rae, a heifer calf, are both doing well along with Mom.
Because they're Jersey/Angus crosses, we've decided to make the calves available for sale. If you're interested, email us for details. We'll honor inquiries in the order we receive them. And there's more to come—Dolly and Blossom are both due next week with Jersey/Angus crosses as well.
The new cows and cooler weather have also brought some welcome relief to our milk supply. We're finally on the other side of our lower supply and have plenty of milk to fill your orders, along with a steady supply of yogurt, Greek yogurt, and kefir.
And honestly, we're just happy to feel fall arriving. The cooler mornings and the changing rhythm of the season are a welcome change after a long summer.
We're also getting close to having our own ground beef in the store. If you'd like to hear more when it's available, join our Beef Updates list here.
Finally, we're excited to see the Noffkes getting closer to opening their new Skyview Creamery in Atchison. We've been working together to make sure they can continue sourcing milk from the original farm that started their cheese-making journey. It's pretty special to watch that story continue to grow.
Thanks for being part of ours.
